Landau Forte Academy – 11-16 Centre, Tamworth

The prestigious Landau Forte Academy in Tamworth comprises two campuses, a Post 16 Centre with 860 places and an 11-16 Centre offering 960 student places. The 11-16 Centre is located on the former playing fields of the Woodhouse Community College.

Description

The two storey steel framed structure supports exposed precast concrete plank floors and roofs which transmit heating/cooling and ventilation via the Termodeck system, which in turn is linked to geothermal heat pumps. The roof planks to the three learning wings are laid to a 10 degree pitch providing positive roof drainage and an aesthetic appearance to the interior of the building. A feature of the 11-16 Centre is the sweeping curved raking roof to the community wing forming a prominent frontage at the main entrance of the academy.
